Search for items in the collections of the British Optical Association Museum in London by entering keywords in the white box to the top left. These could be a type of object, the title of a picture, a person’s name, a manufacturer or supplier, a date, a country or a place. Then press ‘Search’. Read about your favourite objects and then link to related items. Learn more about the collection by following these links.

Don’t know what to search for? Try a country like ‘Egypt’ or a category like ‘stamp’ or ‘camera’. Or view what other users have been looking at in the left hand column.

Try to make your search as specific as possible so as to avoid excessively large numbers of results. For instance the phrase 'spectacles' will yield thousands of results. You can search individual fields in our data structure by going to ‘Advanced Search’.

If you have landed directly on this page from an external link then the ‘Home’ link will take you to the home page of the MusEYEum, the electronic web presence of the BOA Museum.

Found something of interest? This online catalogue is fed from our computerised collections management system powered by MIMSY XG. MIMSY stands for ‘Museum Information Management System’. There’s much more in that than appears on this website so contact the Museum Curator to find out more. If appropriate please quote the numerical accession numbers for the objects you require. You’ll find this at the bottom of each entry in the form 1999.123 or 2002.567 etc.
